Headaches and Migraines

Welcome, I am sorry that you are suffering from headaches or migraines. If it is bad enough for you to be searching the web, then it is bad enough to be taken seriously, and I am glad that you have come to see what treatment is on offer here.

At Iwood I offer high quality effective acupuncture treatment for headaches and migraines. I would be really happy to chat through your specific needs and talk about how I can help you.I am a fully qualified traditional acupuncturist and I trained for three years at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine. I have also done extensive further training specialising in treating pain, headaches and migraines. My own personal ‘lived experience’ of this has inspired me to research the most effective methods of treatment and I have treated many people with success.

Everyone is different and your course of acupuncture treatment will be uniquely tailored to you. Depending on your particular needs, it can be effective to use acupuncture on its own or to combine it with other forms of treatment.

Success with acupuncture

Acupuncture is most effective when you have a course of treatment targeting three main areas:

  • Treatment directed at the location of your pain and patterns of pain to reduce the severity of the pain.
  • Treatment according to Traditional Chinese Medicine to balance your body-mind-system in order to reduce the frequency and severity of headaches and migraines and improve your well-being in other related areas.
  • Focus on self-care and managing your headaches and migraines.

Alongside acupuncture there are things you can do to improve your migraines.

Some people find hypnotherapy beneficial as it helps to relax your body and it gives you visualisation techniques to help reduce pain levels. Clinical Hypnotherapist Nicole Valens has created a 40 minute self-hypnosis session for Headaches and Migraines which you can listen to when you start to feel one coming on and if you are already in pain. It will become more powerful and effective as you train your brain with repeated listening
